We Have a New Name!

The Board of Directors of the Accreditation Review Committee on Education in Surgical Technology (ARC-ST) resolved at their Fall 2008 meeting to change the ARC-ST name to the

Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting ( ARC / STSA )

effective on August 1, 2009 .

The name change, by unanimous resolution of the Board of Directors upon recommendation from its standing committee, the Subcommittee on Accreditation for Surgical Assisting (SASA), is intended to more accurately reflect for all communities of interest our full scope of accreditation services provided in both surgical technology and surgical assisting education.

The ARC/STSA continues to serve as the sole Committee on Accreditation (CoA) for both surgical technology and surgical assisting education in collaboration with the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) as recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

.and a new Logo.

Our new logo mark embodies many facets of the ARC/STSA. The iconic symbol depicts four books coming together, representing learning at its core, and forming an eight pointed star which reflects the eight members on the Board of Directors representing our Sponsors and the light cast by higher education.
